Welcome to the Touhill's 2008-09 season. We are very excited as the Touhill moves into the second half of its opening decade.
As part of our efforts to continually improve the way we serve our patrons, this year we are introducing our new E3! program. It is designed to help audiences actively involve themselves in the performing arts experience, and stands for Explore--Experience--Engage! E3! encourages patrons to Explore the content of a performance before the curtain goes up, actively Experience the performance while it’s happening, and Engage with fellow patrons and even performers after the show. We hope you will take advantage of this option, because we feel it will enhance your enjoyment of not only our performances, but also the art form as a whole.
And what performances we have. The Touhill continues to believe that variety truly is the spice of life, as this year's lineup sees a wonderful range of art and entertainment including a standup comedy performance by Everybody Loves Raymond star, Brad Garrett; three operas including Pirates of Penzance; songstress k.d. lang; and country and bluegrass star Ricky Skaggs with his band Kentucky Thunder, joined by popular pianist and vocalist Bruce Hornsby. Dance St. Louis and the Touhill have partnered to bring in BalletMet for five haunting performances of Dracula while longtime favorites like the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, The Second City and The Manhattan Transfer are back again. And this just scratches the surface!
New to the Touhill's season is Arianna Expressions featuring four performances by the university's own internationally recognized quartet-in-residence, joined by some world-class guest soloists.
Be sure to examine closely the entire sixth season. For a complete listing, please click here. We believe this blend of familiar and new will offer something for everyone.
